On May 24, 2025, Edmonton successfully hosted a multicultural event celebrating Asian Heritage Month. Featuring music, dance, and Tai Chi performances, the activity promoted dialogue and understanding among Asian, African American, and Indigenous cultures.
Dr. Donald Yu, President of the NCCC Edmonton Chapter, opened the event by thanking the provincial government and community for their support, highlighting the value of cultural heritage and inclusion.
Ms. Mandy Quon, Assistant Dean of the Indigenous Studies Institute at the University of Alberta, shared insights on cultural transmission from an Indigenous perspective.
City Councillors Tim Cartmell and Jennifer Rice acknowledged the event’s role in fostering community unity and multicultural harmony.
The vibrant gathering showcased cultural diversity and enhanced mutual understanding and respect among ethnic groups.
